Polish Canadian Humanitarian Society ( since 1997 )

Our organization was created in 1997 by a group of Polish Canadians in Edmonton, Alberta wanting to
provide humanitarian assistance to Poles residing in much poorer countries to the east of Poland
(particularly Belarus and Ukraine). Over the years, the goals and efforts of the organization have
expanded significantly to provide humanitarian assistance to organizations across Alberta, the rest of
Canada, and around the world.
We remember the difficult personal histories of many Polish immigrants to Canada as well the obstacles
they overcame to build new lives here. We honor their stories through our charitable work. We are
motivated by gratitude to the generations that came before us, those who helped them, and a strong
belief that by helping those in need will be paying back for opportunities afforded to us in Canada.
In 2023, our efforts will be directed to help, among others, Ukrainian evacuees and displaced persons
seeking a safe haven following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This is consistent with our mission
statement of helping “victims of war, terror and man- disasters with particular emphasis on aid to
displaced children, orphans, the elderly and homeless”
